I’m a big believer that there’s no one way to be successful in what you do. Just because everyone else is getting it right with one approach doesn’t mean you need to do the same.
Life isn’t one size fits all.
One of the reasons why it can be so hard to be consistently productive and get things done is because we waste so much time trying to mimic everyone else.
If you’re waking up at 6am everyday, getting nothing done and getting increasingly cranky and frustrated, that might not be your thing.
The key to success is finding what method works for you, and then sticking to that method consistently.
Instead of trying to conform to what seems to be working for everyone else, try these steps to developing your own implementable work flow.
Try out different approaches
Do some research and know what your options are. If you want to open a shop but don’t want to stock inventory, figure out a different approach. If you want to start a YouTube channel but don’t know much about editing, figure out an approach that allows you to create stellar content while learning. If you’re tired of waking up early, try sleeping in and getting work done after hours.
It may take a while to find your rhythm, but it will be well worth it in the end.
Implement a 30 day trial period
It takes about 30-60 days of consistency to implement a new habit or routine. As you’re trying new things and figuring out what works for you, try implementing a 30-45 day trial period. So basically, if something isn’t yielding results for you after a month or so of consistently practicing it, it’s likely not going to work for your lifestyle.
Make adjustments as you go
Your life, work and interests will change as you change. Don’t cling to an old workflow because it’s what always worked for you. Be flexible enough to make adjustments as you go and try new things that will enhance and add to your new lifestyle.
