The past few weeks have been filled with ups and downs for me. A few too many emotional moments, even for a highly sensitive person like myself.
Have you ever had one of those days/weeks/months (I hope not longer) where it seems that once you start to cope and deal with one fire, another sparks up? Consider that the vast majority of my May and June. Here’s to bluer skies in July…
With so much happening, and life being un-pausable, finding those small things that are easy to take hold of to find some extra joy have been my life rafts. It doesn’t take much to treat yourself, and the smallest things can often make the largest impact on your current outlook.
I have a few staple things I reach for when I need a little pick me up
- A quick phone call with my dad or trip home for the weekend
- Making a healthy meal for myself
- Taking 15 minutes for a face mask
- Fresh flowers in the living room
- A long shower with a warm candle burning in the bathroom
None of these things are incredibly extravagant or luxury items, but they’ve been big players in my world lately. It all boils down to taking care of yourself. Giving yourself time and pampering and taking a mental break from constant overthinking and burn out.
