Sunday Morning Coffee // No. 79

Sunday Morning Coffee // No. 79The other day, a co-worker and myself were in the elevator heading back up to the office and questioned: why DO we call them the dog days of summer? What does that even mean?

A quick Google search revealed the following:

1. The sultry part of the summer, supposed to occur during the period that Sirius, the Dog Star, rises at the same time as the sun: now often reckoned from July 3 to August 11.
2. A period marked by lethargy, inactivity, or indolence.

In the past week alone, I’ve managed to end my apartment search and settle on a studio in the city, put some fire under the beginning stages of a new project, multitask like a maniac at work and not lose my mind in the process. So I’m not feeling the lethargy, inactivity, or indolence.

With so much happening around the world right now, keeping busy and staying in motion has honestly been a coping mechanism for me. My heart has been so heavy by all of the chaos and tragedy both here and abroad. It seems that just when we start to try and process and heal one atrocity, another one hits. It’s critical now more so than ever that we leave a little love and light with everyone we meet and everywhere we go.

Do what you can, for yourself and others.
